This man is very depressing. He also has no emotions or at least lacks many of it. I’m surprised he didn’t care for his daughter that much.

It’s a teeny bit hard for me to grasp all the words or descriptions but it’s a good challenge for myself. I’m liking the story so far. It’s interesting how the Omega kids all are beautiful and super smart but also lack empathy/normal human emotions. I wonder if that’s just a product of their environment or because they are the last human generation to be born.

I am so curious as to how it would be different in America, and also different if Catholic, rather than Church of England. I think the two most defining factors of how this book conceives a world without children are the fact PD James is British and Protestant. Particularly like the quote “the world is changed not by the self-regarding, but by men and women prepared to make fools of themselves.”
