After reading the chapter on porn and sex as an aesthetic in the 2000’s, I’m wondering how this reemergence of tramp stamps/low-rise jeans/whale tails (for instance) relates to our current recession(?) and what some new recession indicators might be. What happening now in pop culture/style is a direct influence of our time period versus nostalgia? Perhaps the nostalgia itself is an indictor of a recession?
