Okay so I actually really enjoyed this
She kinda annoyed me at times but I can understand why she acted the way she did

So yeah I’m pretty happy with this book🥰

Together, Eldas and I sit on our thrones and the room erupts in cheers. I finally relax in my seat. There’s nothing more than the quiet whisper of magic on my skin, humming from across the Fade—a magic that reminds me of where I’ve come from, as I look out on where I am.
I can finally relax here. I hold out my hand and Eldas takes it with a smile.
Everything is in balance, and all is right with the world.

“The Human Queen has returned” His voice echoes to the highest beams of the ceiling. “The cycle begins anew. But this cycle we begin now shall be eternal”
He accepts a crown of gold redwood leaves off a pillow held by Willow. The young man’s eyes shine with tears of joy. “All hail Queen Luella. The last queen of spring.”
“All hail Queen Luella,” the room echoes as Eldas settles the crown on my brow.

“And I love you,” he says, finally.

I didn’t even think of what I was going to say. So I open my mouth and say the first thing that comes to mind. I let my words echo to the top of the hall. “King Eldas, I love you!”

That man is imperfect and stinted. He can be cruel and cold. But he’s willing to try and hear me. Somehow, he heard things I didn’t even know I was saying. He listened…and I didn’t do the same.

He was giving me choice—the choice to stay in Capton, or leave, no matter if it was for Midscape or not.
Love is choice.
Just dream, Eldas, and then follow those dreams.
I have to go to know.

Words I said to him that I didn’t know got through echo back to me. He listened. Time and time again.

“But ever since he’s been back…He’s his old self again,” Rinni finishes. “And I know that must mean something happened between you two.”
“I can’t change him, Rinni.” If Rinni believes I don’t care, maybe Eldas will too, then maybe I will

She blinks, startled.“I’m not asking or expecting you to. He was changing himself because he believed he could be a man worthy of love—your love.”

“Tell me, Luella, do you love me?” His voice takes on an almost begging note. “Tell me now or I will wash my hands of you for good.”
How can I make him understand? “Eldas, I⁠—”
“Yes or no, do you love me?” His voice raises a fraction.
I watch as he shatters under my silence and hesitation.

I could spend forever like this.
There’s no point in denying it. This prickly, awkward, and somewhat emotionally stinted man has become mine. And whether I intended to or not, I have allowed myself to become his.

With a sigh that almost sounds content, I let my eyes flutter closed once more and I lace my fingers with his. He returns my grip but his breathing remains level. Even in his sleep, he reaches for me. His arm tightens, as if affirming the rogue thought.

Good enough. Not paying much attention, to be honest.... But whenever I read carefully through that it seems fun.

Not my typical genre (Romantasy) but i’m giving it a chance and so far I am actually enjoying it. It’s different than my typical romances.

I don’t like Luke.

“What was that?” I whirl on him as we emerge onto the street. “Marriage?”
“You said you loved me.”
“I may be inexperienced with all this but saying ‘I love you’ is not the same thing as ‘I’ll marry you.’” He tilts his head with a gentle smile and rests his hands on my shoulders. “Isn’t this what you’ve always wanted?”

Okay so I’ve been wanting to read this book for years!

The library has it as an ebook so I got and I’m going to start it today✨
