My only critique of this book was that the pacing felt slow at times. Some other reviewers had issues with the world-building being too simple/simplified, but I didn't mind that. This was a beautiful book regardless and I'm glad that I finally read it.

I ADORED the ending. It was excellently written. ❤️ Lucen's character development was wonderfully executed and I loved it!!

'Fighting is a noble pursuit, but a foolish one. To be brave enough to ask for help is knightly,' he said. 'Do you understand?'

I love this dialogue from Lord Brenet. It's thought-provoking and an interesting point.

Awww. I'm having a lot of happy feels about Ash and Lucen's relationship improving and developing. Talk about heartwarming!! 😁

I like what Splinter said about how Calinor was for everyone after Vance spewed his bigoted crap.

I'm fascinated by the dynamic between Ash and Merewen. I'm curious to see if they'll become friends. Or is that possible after Ash tricked Merewen and ruined her trust?

I appreciated Ash's compassion towards Merewen during that chapter. Then at the end of the chapter she was a force. Hooray for girl power!!!

Ash was her home.

I disagree with Lucen's dialogue. For me, it's easier to be kind than it is to be angry. This dialogue explains why he was a prick earlier in the book.

I now know the identity of the treasonous character. I may or may not have finished this chapter while my eyes were dilating. 😅😆 I'm truly a voracious reader. 😂

I hate to write that the words 'in jest' were a trigger, but unfortunately they were. 😥

I'm not sure what to think of Lucen at this point. He seems to realize that a lot of his behaviors were wrong and he might be undergoing some character development.
