Dang!! Morgan Matson is putting Ryanna through the wringer rn. Poor fictional kiddo. 😣😟

That chapter ended on a shocking note. I'm going to read some of the next chapter but not all of it. I'm too tired and I need to listen to my body.

Ryanna is smart for figuring out her mother's clues that'll lead to the treasure.

I appreciate Max's silly puns.

Was it that simple? A fight and words that couldn’t be taken back? And then silence that just grew and grew?

Again, the silent treatment Never. Fucking. Helps. Anything. 🙄😤😟 At least Ryanna's grandma had the decency to realize that many years after her daughter's death. And at least she gave Ryanna her mother's belongings.

(We’d decided to call him Harold last week. We’d also decided to name the swan float Odette and to call the slice of pizza float Slice of Pizza.)

Odette isn't an original name for the swan float, but it's a nostalgic name. I'm not one talk because I have a large light purple stuffed unicorn that I named Violet. 😆 I'm not about to be a hypocrite. 😝

I'm glad that Ryanna's aunts and uncles aren't being jerks to Holden. The story could've been written that way but it wasn't.

This reminds me of what my mom and I were just talking about: how some children can be more mature than adults. And how some adults can be disgustingly immature. 😶😥 I've been there, dealt with that, and it has fucked me up. 😣😠

The Van Camp cousins were right to call Holden out for giving them the silent treatment. That's never a kind thing to do someone, and ultimately, Holden wanted to help the Van Camp family. At least he's making up for it at the current point in the story.

Ryanna just learned something shocking about Camp Van Camp.

I hadn’t met anyone my age who’d also lost their mom. It made it really weird and lonely—like I was fluent in a language but had nobody to speak it with.

Yeesh! Poor Ryanna. 😣

I'm enjoying the feel-good mood in this book rn. My mental health is all over the place, so the mood is exactly what I need. 🙂

I’d learned lots of facts about her. (She had loved pineapple pizza; she had watched Anastasia enough that she could recite the whole movie by heart; when she was little, she’d wanted to be a marine biologist.)

These facts about Ryanna's mom are ridiculously endearing. It's also nice to read a book where pineapple on pizza isn't being dissed. 😁

Jewelry that's given from a parent to a child is special and it should be treasured. 😊❤

I loved how Ryanna was in awe of the fireflies and how they were novel to her; since she'd never seen them before. I appreciated the tranquil mood at the end of that chapter. 🙂

Max drew in a shocked breath. 'You have Aunt Katie. And you’re going to have birthday and Hanukkah presents from her for years. Ryanna doesn’t have Aunt Casey anymore, and it’s like she just got a present from her. And you want to take it away?'

Hattie didn't want to hear that from Max but she needed to. At least she apologized to Ryanna right away for coveting the necklace.

I'm enjoying this chapter, but I'm too tired to finish it tonight. 😔

Whenever Terry Turner was stumped by one of her cases and needed to figure something out, she went to a quiet, dark room, preferably with her dogs, Jessica Fetcher and Wagatha Christie, until she understood what her clues meant.

Oh, my gosh!! The dogs' names are adorable. 😆😊

Archie's insult with the word 'pillock' in it made me smile. 😆 I wasn't expecting to see that term in an American book. 😅

Ryanna's Grams has been so kind and generous to her. It's heart-warming to read about. 😊
