Status Updates From The Forest Demands Its Due

Unique premise and interesting voice were completely wasted in the long run. The story had me in the first half but the combination of a muddled magic system, lack of emotion in the "romance" subplot and long chapters with little to no progression of the story made me stop caring.

i feel like i missed a bunch of chapters like this relationship went from “he’s kinda cute?” to “we have such a massive connection and i would rather die being with you than save the world” within 20 pages? tf?? what?? back up???

i picked this up because it sounded a lot like dont let the forest in so may it be half as enjoyable
