“We shall be reunited and shall know love.
My corroded fingers will finally caress
your decomposed flesh and your hairless forehead.
My parched lips will finally kiss
your waxen chest and your shriveled breast.
My bleached bones at last will embrace your limbs
pecked by the beaks of crows.
And my loosened teeth will finally rest
on your blue skin, swollen and torn to shreds.”

Was a bit hard to get into. The language is very poetic, but also very beautiful. The story finally moved to Layla's point of view, which is much more interesting.
"And she, too, suffered, but in a different way.
Her distress remained sealed in her soul.
For modesty and honor are a muzzle
with which man has covered the mouth of woman."
