okay this is where the book loses me because, while being a wife does require time and commitment, it shouldn't compromise freedom? Maybe they could argue "time and commitment into the marriage" is sacrificing freedom, but a healthy marriage allows a wife to be her own person and not just the shadow of her husband and the one doing all the invisible labor in the marriage...but you know, that's traditional marriage

because someone not wanting marriage with you being indicative of them lacking a desire for commitment, monogamy, devotion, and all-encompassing love for another person is…correct

wait a minute — how am i agreeing with this book
