In spite of the colourful language, the bluntly described sex and promiscuity, and the unapologetic criminal behaviour of the main characters, the Phillips books are unquestionably entertaining. I think the America he describes is a damn sight more genuine than the Disney version.

I'm sorta enjoying this, but it's kinda dirty and mostly about porn -- which is too Levantine for my tastes.
