I'm a little worried about this so far.
While it was interesting to hear about minutiae in quill writing considerations I'd never thought about (eg which wing to take the feather from because of the natural curves/etc), the book also made the claim that envelopes weren't invented until the 1800s.
A quick google search shows that they were invented in 2000 BC, but didn't make it into UKmass production until the 1800s
