This is depressing but also hopeful. I am sensitive and this would have devastated me as a child. It’s a good book to teach children to treat animals well. I disliked the anti crop and dock rhetoric. I view docking as essential for working dogs but I know that is not as common now. I think it’s a good lesson about not overworking animals and trying to communicate despite not speaking their language
