Interesting so far. Engaging voice in audiobook. However, I didn’t expect this to be as autobiographical as it is. It’s also quite self-aggrandizing. Anyone is a good guy when put in contrast with Putin but Khordokovsky is not without his faults. Will finish this because it’s interesting, but it simplifies a lot of complex issues and it’s more about the author than the title leads you to believe.

Khodorkovsky says that the way the system is set up in Russia invites corruption and state capture to anyone who is in power, the problem is not only Putin, it is changing the system once Putin is gone. Creating a parliamentary republic.

A line that caught my eye: “[Putin] ordered the closure of independent TV channel NTV, claiming he was doing so for financial reasons, but making little secret of the fact it was actually because NTV had the temerity to criticize the president” I stopped for a moment because that is exactly what Trump did and no one seems to be batting an eye.
