“Maybe we need to lose something if we want to grow up”

It’s sad to see the mom deteriorating. And it was nice to read her past diary when she was missing for a year to have this affair behind her son. She’s lonely. And the son is worried for the mom and his future as a soon-to-be-father. Makes me a little anxious about my future when mom gets older and how I’d survive alone.

Finally, in the diary season of when the mother was missing for a year, which was mentioned in the blurb. It's taking me a while to read cos I'm in my depression season, but also it's the emotional type of read of mom with dementia. I would have devoured a weird book. Still a good book that reminds me of how and what I could be enduring. Especially the home care stuff, for when I get older that I plan to live in.

Been reading this for so long cos I’m having a little episode of uncertainty in life. Taking my time. And no rush. Thought I’d start documenting my reading journey for myself in 2026.

This is going to be a sad one right. Mom has memory loss, son is going to be a father soon. So many things happening. Stresses me out on me caring for mom too.
