Status Updates From Our Lady of Mile End

Just finished reading Green Eyes -perhaps this story partially matched up with the quality of Mavis Gallant’s stories -or perhaps foreigners to Canada would really enjoy it. I got into the story a bit . I just noticed it was set like 400 miles north of the Mile End - up north . Lots of difficult talk and feelings about toilet paper. good one. But many countries don’t have any.

I may have to re-read the first few stories. I put the book down too long, lost the reading momentum and forgot what I had read about. But I have noticed that I’m comparing Sarah Gilbert’s writing to Mavis Gallant’s and don’t know how or why but MG’s comes out on top. Perhaps MG was more hounded by the furies and so she wrote.
