Status Updates From Marines in the Garden of Ed...

Well... it looks like I regained my interest after all. ^_^ It's all these little stories of real people doing brave things on the battlefield that makes this book work.

When you're this far through a book and have completely lost interested in it, do you still call it a DNF? Do you count it toward your reading goals? *deeply ponders*

Try this for frustrating: Reading about mistakes people made that caused other people's real deaths. Yikes. >.<

I met the author of this book a couple months ago and I've been excited to read this ever since. This is my first exposure to military nonfiction. So far, it's gripping. The realness of it is what makes it most intriguing.

In the middle of the battle... it reminds me of Black Hawk Down... the fog of war. Everything that can goes wrong, does. The tanks are low on fuel, Iraqi's firing from every window and roof top, A-10 strafing friendly units, etc... this book is the opening battle of the second invasion of Iraq. Well written.
