Status Updates From Ultimate Spider-Man, Vol. 1...

Yay! She goes out "on a magic carpet ride" like the MJ she is. The only MJ who doesn't like this mode of transportation is apparently the one from the MCU.

LOL! The awkward shoulder-shrug after telling his whole family his secret and how he got beaten up by the Kingpin. Oh, that's hilarious!

Not only is Peter out of his element fighting someone who wants to kill, but that same person, the Kingpin, seems to have had some improvements to his body. He's not just a big, tough, strong guy but is now able to tank hits that would normally put someone down. I don't know if I like that change or not.

Okay, looking back, his Spider-Sense is a lot more noticeable now that I know what it looks like. Earlier, it just appeared as a bunch of scratchy lines that could be mistaken for action lines. Not like in other comics where it's usually a halo with multiple, squiggly lines emanating from it.

Finally, his Spider-Sense goes off!

Yeah, you can't exactly hide injuries from your family. Especially facial ones. Not like how it was from earlier comics.

"Everyone thinks they want to be a hero until it actually costs them something." Bullseye living up to his name in the figurative sense as well as the literal one. The thing is: how soon is this cost going to come to both Harry and Peter? And by what degrees? According to recent issues of this series, it may have cost Peter his life. But this is not the first time that Peter/Spider-Man has died.

Huh, so this new Shocker was just some guy who had picked up his shock gloves from another person that had died while being given them by the holographic Tony Stark. These are supposed to be for a hero, but what hero uses this sort of power?

And fourth, this nerd that Harry and Gwen have with them to break into a Stark warehouse is Otto Octavius!

First, I'm liking this Harry Osborne backstory. We see his father get killed in an explosion over Manhattan that was the catastrophie from the first issue and his final words to Harry. Thus providing the subtle emotional drive that he has throughout the story. Second, we see that Norman and the Kingpin had a partnership that Harry is unsure he wants to maintain. Third, the Stark/Stane logo's A is the Avengers A.

And it's Harry-freaking-Osborne who gives Peter the speech!

While this private conversation between Harry and Peter about their other lives and the contrast on how each of them handle their secrets is interesting, I can't help but notice how when Harry says, "Save the world" we don't fully see his face, particularly his eyes. Every panel we see his full face except for this one moment. Just a feeling that he may be hiding something.

Whoa, some major world-building drops! Looks like after Tony Stark was gone, Obidiah Stane took over (or they merged while Star was still alive, a little unclear), but now Oscorp had an aggressive take-over of Stane/Stark! And Gwen and Harry are in charge?!

You know, I was starting to wonder if the kids had a babysitter since MJ and Peter were out on a dinner date with Harry and Gwen. Uncle Ben, I understand, but JJJ?

So, I see that Gwen Stacy is in this world. And she's married to Harry Osborne.

Okay, we're just going to the face and secret identity reveals...on a rooftop...in public view...where there could be observers or satellites or cameras.

Pete, you better have your Spidey-Sense now! That's Bullseye you're tangling with! And he just took down the Green Goblin...with playing cards!

Awww, some father-daughter time of changing costumes and trying out different looks. And May has a good eye for bringing the old red-and-blue.

Again? Where's his Spidey-Sense? He's had that since the beginning.

Again, Spidey-Sense. Although in this situation, it's more like "Daddy-Sense." I just love her little face.
