Ch 15 - McGammon confides in her husband, Hunt heads for the Omega, meets Krancis, and we finally see the warship named the Omega.

Ch 14 - We meet Soliana, who projects a terrifying vision into Hunt's mind. Turns out she doesn't know who she is or why she's here, but she knows how to interact with alien artifacts. They get the cube open and it's a map. Hunt accidentally rallies the pirates and they plan to leave with him, against their leader's wishes, and they leave for the place marked on the map. Also, Lily might die.

pt 2 - Hunt resists her and his powers are fully unlocked. He destroys her visage and Devourers descend on the area. There's a whole space ship fight and all that. Our OGs win.

Ch 13-Rex is startled by an apparition of a dead Lily. The woman he goes to interrogate recognizes him as the Dark One. Turns out she's another granddaughter of Ugo. Hunt gets the information he needs, and, as Lily goes in and heals the woman, she uses Lily as a shield to get out. She dies. The ships disappear and return. Hunt is drawn to The Mistress, who works in tandem with the aliens.

Ch 12-Gustav plans on leaving to go his own direction unless Elasha tells him about the Omega. She does, and they make it to the place to talk to the planet. The planet tells them they need Hunt to make the Omega work.

Og Group reaches the base and gets their rooms. Lily and Hunt get in a scuffle on the way to dinner and are relocated. Lead Pirate asks for him to interrogate this chick in exchange for ship repairs.

ch 11 - Elasha's traveling companions get to know one another, and we find out one of them is secretly part of an organization that hunts mystical beings/forces in the galaxy and exterminates them as the Master of the Forest turns out to be a kal. Our OG group leaves on a ship, barely making it out alive--but Hunt thinks the opposing ships were told not ot harm them. Hunt and Lily have another sweet moment.

ch 10 - Elasha regrets forcing the emperor's hand, and Krancis calls for her. She heads out for another area with two men to keep her safe, and we get some more information for the reason behind the mind control.

Lily's hand is repaired and Hunt learns to fly a ship.

McGammon grows angry and rueful. Someone's already tried taking her life.

ch 9 - They come across a recently created door by the Kol-Prockians (which shouldn't be possible). Turns out there were some who survived the war and ships were created on several planets. They meet Melo, remove the pirate's corrupted hand, and are given a cube. They need one more human to open. Lily and Hunt have an argument, turns out she has a degenerative disease, and then they make up.

Ch 8-Hunt wakes, and reflects on his guilt. He confronts the planet, but the Devourers have arrived. They head for the ship the planet directs them to, are ambushed by a ton of kals, and barely make it into an underground hangar, where Lily is bitten by a snake. Wells theorizes the planets sacrificed people to save themselves.

McGammon is threatened and blackmailed into blackmailing those opposing Krancis's will.

CH 7- Wells theorizes, or tries to, before he's interrupted. Lily has a breakdown, talking about needing her anxiety medication. She has a sweet moment with Hunt, and the next morning, Hunt and Wells attempt to manipulate the guide into giving them more info. They're attacked by a massive kol and the guide is corrupted. Hunt ends her. Empire side; threat of mutiny. The Origin issue still unknown.

ch 6 - Hunt has two dreams, one connecting him to humanity, and the other to his father. He gets a whiff the planet's not being completely honest, he has another training montage, and we learn the kal are negative memories of dead people. The pirate is skeptical of Hunt and sees him as a threat, and hints the Order gave abilities to other people. Also a LOT of info dumping in this chapter.

ch 5-The empire is losing the battle. Krancis takes over the Omega, orders a retreat that will protect the Omega and leave the empire vulnerable, is slapped on the hand by the emperor, and then becomes the new emperor.

Hunt gets a training montage, Wells and the planet don't mesh well, Hunt's guide leads him back to his friends, and they're attacked by kals (the shadows). Hunt passes out as he reaches the obelisk.

These chapters are far too long. But I'm also someone who enjoys shorter chapters because I have a busy life and a brain that doesn't like to stay in one place for too long. Chapter breaks make my brain happy because it feels like progress.

But I digress...

I wish these chapters were shorter.

ch 4 - They come across an obelisk. Shadowed creatures approach, and they scare them off. Lily's abilities have become more sensitive, and Hunt comes across a spokesperson for the planet. Info dump about humans arriving on Earth, how the Devourers are from a different dimension, and about the planets. Hunt's ability can do more than create fear, and the planet will train him...

Ch 3- they crash-land on the new hot planet.

Ch 3. Our OG crew update Pinchon, who was emoted/fired, with everything from the last book and a few new details. They’ll leave in the morning for that other planet.

They leave, a spacecraft battle takes place, then they exit the atmosphere. They have some more talking moments about past, present, and future, and Gromyko is depressed.

ch 2 - We get a glimpse into the history of the Emperor and Taegen, and our OGs call for assistance to head to another planet for help, but this planet manifests into a large spectral woman to warn them Hunt will fall to darkness if they go because of the other planet's mannerisms. They're attacked by a bear before they're picked up. They land to help a crashed ship, but the spiders got them all.

Chapter 1 - Strong first chapter! We have a glimpse into the government as the alien invasion takes place, as well as the recruitment of space pirates to help fight against it. Our OG group returns and Gromyko calls out to the pirate ship as the planet's life continues to dwindle, and they're picked up. They're pursued by fighter ships and lose them--until the cave they took shelter in collapses from alien blasts.
