So hard to force myself to finish this. It started with some potential. I love fairy tale retellings, and was hoping this would be the start of a god series. I don’t mind cringe, it didn’t have to be deep.

But this was just…. Such a let down.

Overall plot (without any of the spice) it might have worked for a middle grade chapter book. But even, I worry the youngest critics would find it falling flat.

At 50% and this is way more than a quirky fairy tale retelling. It’s turning into social commentary wrapped in satire, and I’m genuinely impressed by how layered and thought-provoking it’s getting.
