This is on the 2024 Miles Franklin longlist. The author is Australian but the Miles Franklin prize is for "a novel which is of the highest literary merit and presents Australian life in any of its phases".
This book is more of a fable and it's difficult, so far, to see how it relates specifically to Australian life in any of it's phases? It's looking like an enjoyable quick read so I'll continue with it.
