Status Updates From Holiday Spirit

I’m on page 109 and although I enjoy the story so far the writing style is annoying! Longer chapters are spent giving the reader a history lesson in folklore or the plague and the shorter chapters are where the action happens and are so vague. Character development is strange as well and seems out of place at times.

This started out quirky and charming, hinting at a darkness yet to be revealed, but it's creeping closer to "cozy horror" territory. Somewhere between Maureen Kilmer's Nightmare of a Trip and Luke Dumas' The Paleontologist, where you're not sure if the author wants you to laugh or to be scared (which would be difficult). Just introduced to Frankenstein the fireman.
