Good for her for not ‘virtuously’ pining away for her neglectful, dismissive, mistress-having husband, but grabbing her own life and taking action—the rare married historical romance heroine who takes a lover! And she didn’t apologize. The husband sure needed too—and he did. Fab tension, believable development.

Finally! A historical romance where there heroine also has a lover. Damn I hate it when the hero is off happily with his mistress while the wife remains in sensual limbo.

like volcano simmering before the blow. finally he stands up foe his wife!

he tells his mistress he wont be seeing her whike his wife is in town. their first time together since he raped her rape is perfunctory and unpleasant for her.

back in london and the H still doesnt know what to do with her. so she asks.hin for a child... someone to love. he finds himself titillated with the idea.

rape. then the trip back to england

why? why does he follow her to australia? its obvoous that if it is her, she has gone to great effort to be as far from him as possible. and he never cared on wit for her... so why???

1871. the author does a wonderful job giving a real flare to the settings of the story. the restrictions, the ambiance, the sensibilities and how they affect the characters. so far we have england, italy, india, and adelaide australia.

still not liking lysander but he's not a dummy. he is pretty sure adele survived cholera and then left for australia.
adele is learning to spread her wings. after years of being supressed as a woman with no suitable male to escort her, her social options were depressingly limited.

the book starts with news of his wife's death, who he hasnt set eyes on in years even before she ran off with theb officer. well lysander is an inconsiderate prig at best and a consciousless ass at worst. poor adele!

It's really good story.
