Not so entertaining description of the travelling circus blended with cruel descriptions of animal beating and torturing. No strong characters yet. At this point it seems that the main point of the book is to depict horrible acts of beating, poking, bleeding, dying without any further purpose. I hope, I am wrong.

The elephant is plucked from the wild and shipped to the USA to perform in a circus. The story is sad yet not heartbreaking. At least until now.
