These last chapters dragged, but they’re still romantic. The situations and story aren’t believable, but that’s the author’s style. Why didn’t Marius’s parents take him home from the boat? Even if he’s injured, why didn’t they visit him daily? Why would an overbearing mother not care for her injured son? Something’s not adding up. It’s still a fun read though.

So this is a continuation of the Waiting for the flood book but written more recently. I can see the change in the writing. It’s a bit more snippy and witty, although not as much as the author’s other books. He is trying to keep it close to the previous book’s style. It’s also a little smutty which surprised me. This author doesn’t usually do that. So far, this is enjoyable.

I’m not gonna lie… Starting this book / novella I thought I would hate the main character because I fell in love with Edwin and I didn’t realize how someone could leave him after 10 years. The only reason I’m continuing is because Alexis Hall is an amazing offer and I’m ready to change my mind about this dude.
