Status Updates From Private Rites

Ugh. You know that thing when somebody criticizes something a bit highbrow (or just simply not fully bottom-of-the-barrel, intellectually), and it's like... oh, you just literally didn't get it, sometimes even to the point of like yikes I don't think you could get it if you tried?

This is. Not that? This is like. So not subtle about what it's doing but also truly impossible to care about? Like good god. Just a mess.

oh and now we're just going full omniscient narrator out of nowhere, ok.

people really liked this crap???

okay?

Okay, we're finally getting very *slightly* interesting. Please, please, please keep going in that direction lmfao

And Agnes's plotline is giving an incredibly subtle (to the point of barely being there at all) Hereditary knockoff?

I just genuinely can't stand this so far 😭

holy SHIT something HAPPENED!? the plot had an EVENT finally??? stop the presses

The whole plot is just lame sapphic Succession, and the scene that ends Part 1 was like legit entirely ripped from Flanagan's Hill House.

"King Lear and his dyke daughters" and then the author tries to lampshade it as having no subtlety. Like, girl. The lampshade doesn't make the thing not the thing. Cringeeeeee

Trying hard to focus on finding the symbolism interesting because literally not a single thing has happened in this story so far? The way I was astounded to see that I'm already about halfway through...
