So far - nice story.
But the sex scene was absolutely unnecessary. Other authors would have shorten the scene with "and then they had wild, animalistic sex".
I am so repelled by this need of so many female authors to masturbate their sex-fantasies into a novel.
For now I try to forget this bad step and read on. But the next such scene would bei the killer for my liking if this series.

I might DNF. I have not DNF’ed a book in years. It’s such a slow burn to the romance and Jack lies too much and does not share with Pete enough. Also give him some relief with the ghosts. I’m tired of him feening for drugs. Ugh!

Too much repetition... all the times Pete's eyes could cut, or she cocked her head, or her eyebrow... just the amount of times eyebrows are mentioned!.. 🙈 Jack was "colder than the air around him" twice in like, 10 pages... it's too close
