New use of “pique” a sharp resentment

An interesting thing about this book is that at the end of each chapter the main character switches from talking in the present tense to the past tense. Saying final words like “and that was the last I ever saw of her” or “and that was my first mistake”.

Genuinely wondering where this book will end off! (minus the romance, I know what’s going to happen there.)

This is interesting with a non cookie cutter character. Rounded characters in general and an in-depth world. Looking forward to reading more!
