really strange how what should be major emotional beats are only told of after the fact? The pacing here is so fast and characters are kept at arm's length from the reader somehow when all of their motivations and feelings are still spelled out? I want to be invested but this is so heavyhanded, still something compels me to continue, i want to know what happens

need to take notes, too many things i dont want to forget:
- writing is way too YA for me, there is no subtlety: characters' motivations and feelings are hammered and spelled out at every turn.
- too much texting even for those who like it usually, this is trying so hard
- likely to get invested in their relationship a bit, their dynamic so far works for me and some of this is cute
- scene transitions are confusing

"Nothing" is really happening, but in a very cute and surprisingly entertaining way? Like I don't know how I'd summarize this, but I'm having a great time, kind of way?
