I have beef with this book…. It says I’m 50% through the book- and that has to be impossible because im no where near ready to get anywhere near the end of this book. It’s not allowed to leave me that quickly

It feels like we’re being dropped into Frozen right as Hans reveals he’s a slimeball—except Kohl has genuinely been a solid, good person for years, and out of literally nowhere, this dark, depraved, totally not okay dude randomly appears. Like… okay, sure.

Just so who we are told will be the villain can end up being the good guy, I guess. It’s cheap and sloppy. Unless the tonics his father is giving him are triggering some kind of family curse (because yes, I think Daddy Dickface is the one behind the original kidnapping) that’s making his mind act on this level of grossness, then it’s just lazy.

I feel like this is extremely cheap, and that the author is doing Kohl dirty. It’s a complete 180 in personality—from a super doting, kind, steadfast, thoughtful, long, long, long-term man who has cared for her with love for years—and now, when they are days away from marriage, he suddenly becomes depraved and acts like a creepy, uncontrollable rapist?

I like the storyline and characters and have about 3 hours left in the audiobook. I’m so tempted to DNF because whoever does the voice for Kohl needs some tips - monotone and lifeless, maybe intentional but if so it was an awful choice.
