Status Updates From Cogs in Time Anthology (The...

These are amateur stories with typos and lacking editing. Some of the ideas are good though. If you aren't a picky reader you will enjoy.

The Well Oiled Machine Another piece of puerile poetry, I will however go on to the next story and not condemn the book on the strength of a poem.

Letters to the Prince Dreadfully short but a rather nice little story. The best thing I've read in the book so far.

Another immature poem, two things 1) I hope I didn't pay for this! 2) If it doesn't get better soon it's going in the bin.

Amelia. Another very short story, better than before, although the ending is weak, however it's still not a steampunk story. The editor of this collection seems to equate mystic Victoriana-lite, overly elaborate verbiage and magical science with Steampunk and it's not working as far as I'm concerned. Victorian Urban Fantasy is fine (although these stories aren't that) but it isn't steampunk.

The Properties of Mercury. Very short and not Steampunk! Magical mercury isn't science, this is a fantasy story set in foggy London (tm). I hope this collection improves soon.

Well, that was a disappointing start... Cogs in Time is a poem that wouldn't be out of place in a sixth form art magazine. I hope the anthology improves.
