I knew Mitchell was going to have a drag makeover! I wonder if his drag persona will have anything to do with helping Kitten in her conflict.

My opinion on Kitten keeps changing. At some points, I find her to be annoyingly pompous. At other points, she comes across as terribly tragic- so much so I feel bad for her. That’s a sign of a complex character.

At first, I liked Mitchell’s story more than Kitten’s. Over the past seventy pages, though, that has changed. Kitten is much more interesting and Mitchell relies on control as his only measure of value. It makes me dislike him which, I assume, is what the author intended.

It’s so odd reading a comedy. There’s plot but it feels so lighthearted. That’s not a bad thing, it’s just such a jump from deep-lore thriller.

I assumed this was an older book from the cover and I was concerned it would have a lot of homophobia. However, even when Mitchell expresses that drag is obscene (due to internalized homophobia, no doubt), it is not displayed the same way in Donald’s point of view. It shows the author is respectful and knows their stuff.
