I’m so confused by Alice’s accent(s). Is it southern? Maybe British?

This is so fun and I LOVE Alice but I can’t get over the ?30 year old queen being called BERYL. It’s so jarring. Why couldn’t she be Queen Louise or Alexandra or Mary or Victoria. QUEEN BERYL AND SHE’S IN HER MID 30’S

I’ll have to come back to this when I get a hold of a physical copy bc the audiobook is horrendous.

The great irony in Alice not feeling at home in Alabarden Park, was that Alabarden Park couldn’t be a home without her. Fiona could spend millions of pounds on the renovations, but Alabarden Park would be nothing but a pile of bricks without Alice.

I don’t know where this book is going. The narrator’s accents are distracting. The first half of the first chapter was weird and the second half was cringe. Alice’s age is unclear but Fiona is written like a new adult not a 35 year old. Maybe as we dive deeper, her personality becomes fuller. I’m struggling but still willing to trudge along because in a fan of TJ O’Shea.

I’m not a fan of how immature Alice is as a womean in her late 20s. Plus the author makes her sound like a back woods red necked country bumpkin!!
