Status Updates From Humor Me (Detroiters In Lov...

I don’t usually do middle of the book reviews but I am today.

I got this book earlier this week and at the same time I got the 3rd book in an incredibly popular Romantacy series. When I pick up my kindle this is the book I immediately go to. I actually read well past my bedtime last night because I had become so involved and I rarely justify doing that anymore.

Can’t wait to see where this one goes.

Communication is garbage in this relationship. Pal hides behind jokes to avoid any feelings, yet she’s obsessed with him and pouts when he has to leave for his JOB. And they’re both adults, why can’t she just ask him about the thing she’s keeping tally on?!

Things that keep coming up I can’t stand:
1) what is up with the slut shaming & constant remarks/thoughts that people think she’s a slut?!?! Ick.
2) I want to love Hopper, but he seems like a caricature of a gay man…but he’s bi! & he heavily flirts with a govt agent & then a page or 2 later it’s mentioned that he has a boyfriend?!
3) the stereotypical lesbian comment was unnecessary.
4) shit towards Adil

I don’t like any of these characters 🥴

The story reads like a wattpad story and some of the dialogue sounds like they’re “over the hill.” PAL is too insecure and gets mad over Mason being busy from his actual JOB. She’s clingy but kinda self sabotaging at the same time.

Advanced reader for this one. I'm not a romance fan, but I'm glad to be a part of the team.
