Skipped from 27% to 87% then read to the end. Not worth it.

First scene was engaging. Rest has been dreadful

Veondken are supernatural beings. Karlen are human, I think. The hochlen are a long-lived race that age slowly and rule over the karlen, but what are they? What is the main character. I’m still waiting for answers.

There's an interesting story in here somewhere but it's not holding me. The prose is too clunky, the worldbuilding is too slow and I'm tired of our heroine being kidnapped to move the plot forward. I'm setting this aside.
