Status Updates From The Wine-Dark Sea

Never Visit Venice: a man visits Venice. He goes on a gondola ride with a mysterious stranger. When he wakes up the next day, his gondola is being swept out to sea and the girl is now a skeleton. The end.

The Inner Room: another amazing story with an excellent set up and a complete bail out nothing ending.

The Trains: a long short story about two women hitchhiking through England. They come to a house. They hang out there for the night. The owner attacks one of them. They lock their door. The end? How is Aickman such a good writer and can write good characters and dialogue and great build-up’s to stories and then completely whiff every ending?

What a stupid ending of the wine dark sea story! Nothing pays off and the guy just swims away???
