Not sure how I'm feeling about this yet. So far it's pretty aggravating.

This author is a new author to me, so I had no idea what to expect. The cover initially caught my eye and so far I'm engrossed in the story. I want to know more about the characters, because there is definitely something going to pop out.

chapter 4

She swore she was going to stay away from him. "It's okay," she told herself confidently. "You can give him up. After all, you gave up smoking after college. You gave up strawberry daiquiris. You gave up fats and sweets and lost 15 pounds last year. You can give him up the same way."
1.) He's a human being, lady. Not booze.
2.) Stop running hot and cold. Either make him Boyfriend or don't.

"What we're trying for here is a little intimidation," she told him in a low voice. "You just get out and kind of lean against the car. Okay?"

He stared at her. "What? he asked, sure he couldn't have heard right.

But she was earnest. "Just sort of lean, you know what I mean. Look tough. Look masculine."

LOL This whole scene is hilarious.

She glanced into his eyes and almost had to laugh. No, typical wasn't the right word for him. "I find you very male," she admitted grudgingly.

Oh, COME ON. No person would ever say this ever. Never.

"What you see is what you get," he said in response to her observation.

She looked at him again, noting the large hands, the strong fingers.

Well, that's it. As soon as a woman in a book - any book - starts going on about how a man's hands look, I know 100% sure they are going to have sex.

He could feel her tension seep away beneath him, and it was oddly pleasant. He knew it was time to let her up, but she felt so good, he wasn't in a hurry.

What IS it with guys in romantic novels? They're always pinning women to the ground and then enjoying their struggles. Is this like a thing? A fake-rape thing? Or 'ooh, he's so much bigger than me and so strong' thing? Or what?
