Status Updates From Amber and the Hidden City

I am really liking this story (would probably have finished it if my battery and life cooperated. There are a few editing mishaps. This story takes place in this world but with some differences, this magic is not like any system I’ve read before. Right now I think my biggest complaint is going to be that I want more of Amber and this world

We've traveled to Timbuktu. I'm continuing to love the main story, and Aisha continues to be my favorite secondary character. She just suffered a major betrayal! I'm thinking she'll end up helping the good guys by the end. The story continues to be completely absorbing, the characters wonderful... and the copyediting poor. Wish I could offer my services because it's a great story & would really shine w/copyediting.

We're in Senegal now, getting closer to the hidden city of Marai. Unfortunately, at this juncture there's some carelessness in the storytelling--some repeated text, some inconsistencies in character details--which are a bit of a disappointment. Up to now, even when there've been some minor copyediting flaws, the story's been so good that I didn't care; this is the first time it's interfered with my reading pleasure.

Still loving Aisha. Meanwhile, the good guys have sent handsome Bissau to our world to help protect and shepherd Amber to Marai. But I have a feeling that Aisha is more than a match for Bissau!

Continues to be *very* exciting and entertaining. I really like the parts in Marai, the city-state separated by a veil from the rest of the world because otherwise it would overwhelm the world with its powers. Both the good guys and the bad guys are trying to intercept Amber before she can arrive at Marai--I really like shapeshifter Aisha's adventure getting from Marai to Senegal. (Aisha's working for the bad guys.)
