I'm finding the heroine's main motivation for finding her mom a bit grating. She's insisting that if both her biological parents turn out to be criminals, she's doomed. When come on, that isn't how it works. It would be much more troubling if they were both psychopaths.

Even though we started off with a bang, I'm finding it hard to get into this one. The hero is fine...we met him in book 1. I guess I'm not finding the dynamic between him and the heroine as compelling as I'd hoped it would be. And so far the attraction between them is all surface level. I guess we'll see how it goes once conflict is introduced...which I'm sure it will be.

I love this series by Roxanne St Claire!
I read this when it first came out (years ago) and wanted to refresh my memory before reading some of her newer books. I have to say, it stands the test of time. Definitely would be a different story with today’s technology, but I think that it is a beautiful example of working within the timeframe of pre cellphone and gps data and tracking. Lovely.
