This is one of the best ways I’ve seen generational trauma in the black community addressed in a book and WOWOWOWOWOW

Every teenage girl goes through the canon event of wanting to run away from home (they most likely have a home life other kids dream of). I am most definitely guilty of this

I’m not sure if this book is a movie or not (could be I just don’t know cuz the book is kind of old) BUT it would be a wonderful portrayal of middle class black families in the 1950s south/midwest. Especially how they were effected by early desegregation laws. This book is so beautiful so far

Soooo the grandma AND the cousin are haters….

The way different stages of romance are portrayed in this novel is so beautiful.

ik racism and classism are supposed to be the main antagonists of this book but it’s really the hating a** grandma

This book is really good but the grandma is colorist as hell 😭

soooo turns out i want a short read before I start up pride and prejudice again. I’m challenging myself to finish this book by Wednesday night
