What a debut holy shit. I hope this author writes more. Doesnt need to be this but Id like another book with the gang; Esther, Joanna, Collins, and Nicholas. And Pearl somewhere in there too. Either way, I loved this. The magic system, the dynamics of the characters, the multi-POV, all of it. And the prose. Beautiful.

That was a clever bit, watching the events unfold between Trev (Nicholas’ old bodyguard btw) and Esther through Collins and Nicholas’ eyes. A double-watch, so to speak. But it’s clear now that Richard intends something sinister.

Shock and awe, Richard is evil and wants to be immortal, seemingly. Staged Nicholas’ kidnapping too, all for his own plans, it seems. Scary shit.

I didnt see the twist with Trev coming. He seemed so unassuming and American. But I guess that’s the point.

gonna finish this this afternoon but i a) cannot fathom how we’re gonna wrap everything up in 20 pages and b) think recommendations + the summary is kind of misleading as to what the majority of it is actually about but i have thoroughly enjoyed myself anyway
