This isn’t a first person narrative and doesn’t go too deep into each character. This essence emphasizes the community aspect of this location and that becomes the main character. Each character really depends on each other and have a symbiotic relationship. They also test each other’s boundaries.

It’s actually quite a cute little book. The characters are all very elaborate and have their own unique quirks

The descriptions are just so unique and appropriate.

Wow I love this so much

I was born in Salinas and this is crazy bc i feel so connected to this place. Maybe that’s just what Steinbeck can do, make you feel like you are embraced by a setting. But I don’t know. The Monterey bay has always felt like the little cove i crawled out of to live in this world, and I like getting to hear about it. I was too young to remember all the crabs and fishes and glassy waters that this book details.
