more of a fantasy element than i realized. maybe it says that in the summary but i didn’t read that so really went in blind.
but im enjoying it! an easy read, which i was expecting this to be more heady and artistic, like a maggie o’farrell book, but i’m not complaining about that. what i WILL complain about is everyone talks like they were born in 2001 (as in my age) instead of 886 AD

Started out so strong and now I swear this book is rage baiting me. How did it turn into the most male centered crap - these are grown women not children and these interpersonal conflicts feel like YA slop. So tired of unrealistic depictions of female friendships and romantic relationships. Anyone that would abandon a lifelong friendship for a man they’ve known for three months was never friends to begin with
