this is a little odd so far but in a very intriguing way. jo is a very interesting protagonist and i surprisingly enjoy the first person inner monologue of how she feels about things.

“Maybe it wasn’t the house, but me that was porous, I thought. Maybe I had to grow thicker skin in this town.”
Maybe it wasn’t my environment that was hurting me, being too loud, too much, too fast. It was me that couldn’t keep up, maybe it was me absorbing too much, hearing every whisper.
