I do think the Chinese dialect could have been omitted, but I'm not a fan of dialect in my dialogue, anyway. I'm also wary of stereotyping with other cultures... And yet! I'm glad I'm reading an unrevised edition and can think about this dilemma, maybe discuss it with others.
