This was supposed to be a thrilling book about vaccines for smallpox and cholera yet turned out to be a book relating issue for an inordinate amount of various people involved in all sorts of roles. It is similar to reading about Napoleon’s war in Le Miz: let’s just get back to the story !
An interesting point brought up was the origin of the 2 diseases. Could smallpox and cholera have originated in Wuhan?

I think the other reviews are harsh I definitely agree it’s not a 5 star book, it’s more 3 or 4 stars so I rounded up.
The positive is the research is phenomenal I definitely learned a lot about the history behind inoculation for example.
However, my main gripe is I feel the author drifts off topic a bit more then I’d prefer.
