This is entirely false- the 1929 Wall Street Crash and the Dust Bowl left the 1930s as a time of great economic depression known as The Great Depression. The Second World War lead to many jobs, in munitions and factories and the armed forces.

This whole part about modern eyeliner in the wake of influencers is the least interesting part of this book.
