Why does this author use “OK” instead of “okay?!” Ugh, it looks so awful. Is this not text speech? It’s so ugly and I want to cry.

I loved The Last House on Needless Street, and so far I’m loving this book, but when Catriona Ward writes from the perspective of a child, it’s very unbelievable. No 12-year-old knows what a scree is (this 38-year-old doesn’t), no 12-year-old describes her surroundings the way Callie does.
