part i shows the early years of simon and the late years of tano prior to the major turning point of their lives. it was not a light read at all. this shows the hardships that tano went through, gried and all but mostly because of his social status. shocking? no. that's the philippines for u! well, as anyone does, he persevered... barely; constantly reminded of the privileges his livelihood fail to provide.
