I had to take a breath at the end of the first chapter (prologue?) because the forester in me wants to shout off the rooftop “that’s not how trees or shrubs grow!” The lower branches of a tree or shrub don’t rise up from the ground as it gets taller. It’s a common misconception, but plants generally extend from the tips of branches. So something caught on the bottom branches will stay low to the ground.
