Very clearly explained how the rebels went from local uprisings to organised attacks against key targets of the central and local administrations and how the Balle speech (“when Adam delved and Eve span who was then the gentleman”) was probably an invention of Walsingham)

I’m loving this book because it explains how the rebels ended up ransacking London
the revolt wasn’t simply a crowd following Tyler. It was a network of local communities highly organised across counties such as Kent, Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk, Sussex and beyond.
That makes it feel much less like a spontaneous riot and much more like a movement.

So much information about the background of the revolt I had no idea about, really good

I am pleasantly surprised by this book, it’s not just about the great revolt, it’s a great explanation of life in 14th century England which in turn served as the background of the revolt
