Between this story and Cell I think King really distrusts cellphones

The boy and the strange old man trope thou - Mr King has already done this with Apt Pupil, no?

As someone who is trying my best to stay away from social media, smart phones, and turning back to books - but still having to rely on phones anyway - the ending rings true.

It touches on the theme of consumerism, i.e. the stuff we bought are also the chains that bind them; and dependence on technology (the image of an old person addicted to their smartphone or social media is too familiar)

The story goes very full circle and 2 character arcs are very clear.

I love the ending - I thought mr King would go for the supernatural route as always but ambiguity is the right choice here.
